Guwahati, March 11: Born and brought up in Lalabazar, 2010 to 2014 was a memorable period in my life.

Due to my career, I tried to settle in many places in eastern and north eastern India. The places where I tried to settle included Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Siliguri and Agartala.

Finally, I chose Guwahati for settlement, which is Known as “Gateway to the Northeast”.

There are various reasons why I am fond of Guwahati.

Never found intimacy like other cities:

When I started my journey in 2015 for myself,I did not know a single person of this City. But now, I feel the people of this city are always a great support. This City has hope, solidarity and cooperation and a shared feeling among  the present generation.

City of Photographers

This city may be called one of the best places for photographers, with its hills, temples, plain and river. Which may be the best attraction for those who specially focus on photography. Never miss the capture of the sun set on the river Brahmaputra.

Festive seasons :

The most notable festival season here is the Bohag Bihu, which is the beginning of the Assamese new year.

This festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and to encourage the traditional culture of people of Assam.

If you stay in Guwahati, never miss this season. During Durga Puja, dont miss out on Rest camp , Gitanagar and Lal Ganesh area.

ISL season:

If you stay in Guwahati during the ISL season, make it a point to go to Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium which is also known as Sarusajai Stadium and enjoy Northeast United Football. You may see at this time how their supporter support their own club.

But it’s also true Guwahati needs to change in  few ways.

Need more toilets:

When I stayed in Kolkata I found every 200 to 300 metres as the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has taken care of this.

But in Guwahati, there are only around 10 to 15 public toilets. People are facing lots of problems for it.

Waterlogging

It’s a main problem of this city but no one has been able to solve it . Guwahati has been suffering from urban floods caused by water logging after heavy rainfall in its catchment area for many years. People of entire Guwahati’s are facing for this problem.

Traffic problems:

Traffic system of Guwahati is yet to be sorted as the other cities of eastern and northeastern India like Kolkata and Agartala .

Every day, there are traffic jams from 9am and 11 am and between 5pm and 7pm. In some place traffic signals are available, but not working properly.
