Internet services were initially suspended for 48 hours in 7 districts of West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri -Bhoi, Eastern West Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, and South West Khasi Hills Districts in Meghalaya.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah met Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma and assured him that CBI will investigate the firing incident in Mukroh village that killed six people. On Thursday, the Meghalaya CM met Amit Shah in Delhi.

The four killed in the firing incident includes a forest guard from Assam. Following the incident, people from Assam are being barred from travelling to Meghalaya till the situation returns to normal
