Will strive for a glorious future of Meghalaya: Mamata Banerjee

TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee is on a two-day visit to the northeastern state for the first time

A few days after Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee visited Meghalaya, party chairperson Mamata Banerjee reached Shillong. She is on a two-day visit to the northeastern state for the first time. 

On Tuesday, Mamata will address a party workers’ convention at the State Central Library
along with key TMC leaders of Meghalaya, representatives of all districts and block committees of the party, members of women, youth and student fronts of the party.

At the Umroi Airport, Mamata, who is accompanied by her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, was welcomed by State in-charge Manas Ranjan Bhunia, state president Charles Pyngrope, Leader of Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma and MLA Zenith Sangma.

Upon her visit to North East state, Mamata took to social media and expressed how the people of Meghalaya have welcomed her with “wide smiles and joyful faces. ” “People of Meghalaya, my heartfelt gratitude to you all for your love, warmth, and support. The beautiful Hill state of Meghalaya is the epitome of beauty and the simplicity among the people is heartwarming. As I reached the state, I was welcomed with wide smiles; and the joyful faces will remain in my heart forever,” the chief minister of West Bengal wrote. 

She also thanked her state TMC leaders for their time. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to State President Shri Charles Pyngrope, Leader of Opposition Dr Mukul Sangma, Shri George Lyngdoh, Shri James Lyngdoh, Shri Zenith Sangma and other leaders for their invaluable time,” she wrote. 

Mamata said that the people of Meghalaya have immense potential. On her two-day visit, she said she will ensure to hear the needs of the people, and prioritize their welfare at all times.

“People of Meghalaya, with their immense potential, deserve to live a prosperous life and we will ensure that we hear them, understand their needs and prioritise their welfare at all times. Our journey has just begun, we have miles to go. For a glorious future of Meghalaya, we shall strive,” Mamata wrote.
